Life after death poll

I'm a Quaker. One of our core beliefs is that no one else's beliefs are inferior to our own. We have many different views of what happens after death. My mother died in 2004. It still hurts even though it has been four years now. I think we live on in spirit and continue to live to fulfill our purpose, whatever that is. You're supposed to find your own purpose too. Hard work. I think we move toward peace and light as our physical and spiritual lives progress, but I can't swear to it. That's the problem with being a Quaker. Lots of different viewpoints to think about and learn from. We even have a Quaker who is an atheist. He simply likes the core values of the faith and believes in living them. Ending, I love your Shaker furniture. It is simple and beautiful. Thank you for creating it and sharing it with the rest of us.

I just found your poll about life after death. I lost my 14 month old son on Nov. 23, 2007, and lost my grandmother almost 5 years ago. I know this is a complicated question - life after death. I truly believe that there is something else. I'm not sure if it's Heaven or Hell, but there is something else. I have seen my grandmother in my dreams and she has assured me that she is okay and happy. I also saw my son in a dream and he hugged me and kissed me and said he'd see me soon. I realize that it may seem crazy but maybe dreams are the only way for our loved ones to reach us and let us know that they are okay. Maybe Heaven is on earth - it's just a different plane of existance that we can't see until we pass on. It's hard to explain but I know I'll see them again someday.

I believe there is definitely *something* after death. It's too complicated to get into here, but I am sure you will find your grandmother again, in this life or the next. Kindred souls always find one another. My thoughts are with you.

7 years ago, I struggled with this very thing after my father passed away. I wanted to believe that he was in a better place, but a lack of religious belief caused me to have no idea what lies ahead for us. Here's what I believe now: There has to be something after we leave this life. This can't be it...I believe that this life is just training/preparation for something better. If you mess it up, you have to start over and try again; if you lived a good life, you get the reward of whatever's next. Your grandmother is just getting the reward for living a good life; she's in a better place.
